about

Football is a business. Many of the pioneering clubs that have shaped the game have been trodden down by time and forgotten.

But their echoes are still heard: the "Pioneers" will have their moment in the sun.

This blog is an extention of the custom gameworld "Pioneers" (ID: 446994) in the M.M.O.G. Soccer Manager Worlds, an online multiplayer football club manager game, based on player transfers between other managers, squad management and (light) tactics.

SM is a community based game, making communication between managers an important aspect to game experience. This blog is a way to reach out to other people, with news about the gameworld's progression and victors, as well as a way to attract more interest and possible candidates to manager positions. The site design was made by myself, Pioneers' creator, and is still evolving in some smaller aspects.

Pioneers contains a selection of the oldest and active association football clubs throughout the world, while aiming to represent continents and countries besides its European cradle. The clubs are distributed in a dynamic 4 division system with 12 clubs each, with short, fast-tempo seasons, in an endless fight for silverware.

The League Title, with a trophy inspired by the intricate and legendary Achilles' Shield, is one of the most prized honours in Pioneers. It represents resilience, as the winner has to fight their way to the top of the tier system. The trophy depicts scenes of the early ancestors of football in its centre, circled by the begining of the sports' systematization and then its state today, surrounded by the crests of all 48 clubs competing in Pioneers (just don't zoom in too much).

The Pioneers Cup, as any other, represents resilience and the sheer will to win. Played simultaneously as the league, you'd have to truly be ambicious to scrape through. It's the great equalizer of the championship, as it can, and has been won by lower tier squads. Its design is inspired by Portugal's beautiful Taça da Liga (and shamelessly stolen as well).

The Charity Shield shows a man (more specifically Pelé) kicking off the match. This trophy is held at the beginning of every season, confronting Title and Cup winners, heralding, or kicking off, a new cycle of the championship.
