SEASON 1 WRAP UP

Congratulations to Marcelo and Ben for the first ever silverware!

Aston Villa becomes the first club to attain a trophy in Pioneers after beating Girondins de Bordeaux 2-nil in the Cup final. 25yo winger Arnaut Danjuma, also a crucial piece in the league, scores the brace that won the Villains the trophy. Both squads had a dominion over League 1 table and the knockout rounds, but only one could take the Cup home.

But the highlight of the season goes to Marcelo's Royal Antwerp, who has lifted the trophy after a very close title race against Genoa and Aston Villa. With 52 points, the Great Olds conquered the first league title on goal difference, with 6 more than the Italians. Ángel Di María deserves a highlight, as the Argentinian winger scored 12 goals at Antwerp in 19 games. The Belgians' crest not only reveals their club registration number, but now also the title registration number, as they become the first champions of Pioneers, a moment to be remembered for a long time.

In the lower divisions, Chile's Santiago Wanderers fought their way to the top of League 2 and a hopefully one way ticket to the top tier for 2nd season. Bolton Wanderers have lifted the 3rd division title after an also very close fight for the top spot against Recreativo Huelva and Académica. And Ghana's Hearts of Oak lift the 4th tier trophy, after an almost unbeatable season and 2 points difference from First Vienna.

It was a very successful first season in Pioneers and a competitive level that has already been surpassed by the second season. Thank you to all managers for your presence and your respect for each other and the rules.
